Hearings for red-card duo

Ed O'Donoghue and Jean Deysel will both face SANZAR judicial hearings, following their respective red cards on Saturday.

The Reds' replacement forward, O'Donoghue, received a red card for foul play during a Super Rugby match in Brisbane on Saturday.

His team lost 27-30 to the Rebels, their first ever defeat at the hands of the Melbourne outfit.

O'Donoghue is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (m): Acts contrary to good sportsmanship.

The incident occurred in the 78th minute of the match. The referee for the match, Steve Walsh, issued a red card for the incident, after the TMO called them back from a line-out 40-odd metres downfield and put the incident up for review.

The case is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR judicial officer Nicholas Davidson.

* The Sharks loose forward, Deysel, received a red card for foul play during his team's historic 30-25 win over the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday.

Deysel is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (b): Stamping or trampling.

The incident occurred in the 17th minute of the match in Christchurch.

The referee for the match, Rohan Hoffman, issued a red card for the incident.

The case is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR judicial officer Nicholas Davidson.

All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a judicial officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the judicial; officer.
