Hurricanes hit a wobbly
The Hurricanes have equalled their best ever Super Rugby winning streak, but it was almost not to be, after a tough second half against the Stormers on Friday.
The home side held a 25-3 halftime lead before the Stormers roared into life the second spell.
The 'Canes, known to be free scoring off even a sniff of an opportunity, were held scoreless in the second half – managing to claim a 25-20 victory in the end.
Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith says they got the wobbles.
"Suddenly our lineout wasn't functioning too well," the All Black centre said.
"Our scrum was losing a bit and then guys were dropping the ball.
"It was tough but we managed to hang on and find different ways to win games.
"It's not all bad."
Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd was far from raving about his side, saying that after a strong first half they were put under the pump in the second.
"Their direct physicality, we battled to contain that, and they've beaten a lot of sides – they're a good side.
"Thankfully we got enough points in the first half to get us home."
The 'Canes are now undefeated in seven games, their most consecutive wins since 2003.
