Injured Stormers lose Taute
The Stormers, still reeling from their loss to the Bulls at the weekend, suffered another injury setback.
Fullback Jaco Taute won't be available for the Stormers trip to Durban and a Round Three Super Rugby encounter Sharks.
Taute took a big knock to his groin region in the 17-25 loss to the Bulls in Pretoria.
Stormers coach Allister Coetzee revealed that Taute has been hospitalised for "observation ".
Describing it as "quite an awkward injury", Coetzee said there is a haematoma on his testicles.
"It is painful and he has blood in his urine," Coetzee said, adding: "He will be observed and we will make a call on his availability after this weekend."
The Stormers coach denied there was any foul play involved and said it was an "accidental" injury.
Joe Pietersen and Gio Aplon have been listed as possible replacements at fullback, with Pietersen's goal-kicking probably giving him the edge.
Centre Juan de Jongh, who missed the trip to Pretoria with a hamstring strain,, trained on Monday.
However, his chances of playing in Durban will depend on how he gets through full training on Tuesday.
"The reason I don't get too excited about the return of players is that I want to see him participate in full training and then I will be convinced [that he is fit]. We'll see from tomorrow [Tuesday] when the hard sessions start."
Prop Pat Cilliers' concussion test was positive on Monday – he showed no symptoms after taking a knock to the head against the Bulls.
"Pat's concussion test is positive today," Coetzee said, adding: "There are no symptoms or anything.
"The less activity he gets after such a knock, the better for him and that is why he sat out of training today [Monday].
"We will look at how he reacts tomorrow and he will do some training."
Scrumhalf Nic Groom sat out training on Monday but he will be fine for selection against the Sharks.
"There is a bit of bruising, but nothing serious – it is just a matter of managing the knee."
