Injuries maul Kings' pack

Davids confirmed that both starting locks, captain Steven Sykes and JC Astle, are nursing light concussions sustained during their defeat to the Bulls in Port Elizabeth last Saturday.

“Both are being evaluated by our medical team,” said Davids.

“Schalk Oelofse has also picked up a soft tissue injury and Edgar Marutlulle has a slight knee injury."

The Kings' front row took a further knock with loosehead prop Sti Sithole picking up an elbow injury, while tighthead Jacobie Adriaanse and inside centre Shane Gates are still out with a rib and foot injury respectively.

“On the positive side, scans done on Siyanda Grey’s knee have come back and shown that the injury is not as bad as first suspected, so we are going to be working on his rehabilitation with him in the hopes of him being available for the latter part of the competition,” Davids said.
