Jaguares struggling to see positives

The loss was the Jaguares' fourth in a row in this year's tournament and has seen them fall further behind in the race to the play-offs.

"It is difficult to see the positive side to a game in which we dominated for large periods, especially the first half," said Iglesias.

"But we struggled to score points. We had several chances to score tries and we did not take them. Instead, they [Blues] hurt us with the few opportunities they had.

"In that sense, the game was a step backwards for us."

Iglesias said their ill-discipline ultimately cost them in the end.

"We felt we could not lose because we were doing the right things and we were hurting Blues.

"We thought that if we were patient, the game was going to be ours – but then we began to give away penalties, which cost us," he added.

Hooker Julián Montoya agreed that the Blues used their opportunities better during the 80 minutes.

"We were not using our opportunities to score points," said Montoya.

"The Blues had two chances in the first half, where they did little, and scored. That was the main difference, although we were the better team."

The Jaguares' next match on their New Zealand tour is against the Hurricanes next weekend.
