Jake has no axe to grind
Brumbies coach Jake White has dismissed the notion that he has an axe to grind and will be out to "prove a point' to the Australian Rugby Union.
White, who coached South Africa to World Cup glory in 2007, was overlooked for the Wallaby job – which went to Queensland rival Ewen McKenzie.
With McKenzie's Reds having been knocked out by the Crusaders last week and White's Brumbies advancing to the semifinals – where they will play the Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday – the Australian media were keen to punt this as a Jake versus ARU scenario.
However, White dismissed the notion, despite going public that he sought the position vacated by Robbie Deans earlier this month.
"I've got nothing to prove, I just do this job because I love it," White told the Canberra Times.
"I put my hand up to coach international rugby, I didn't get the job and that's the way it goes.
"You've got to keep going. It's not a show of trying to prove anything to anyone, it's just about doing the best I can."
