Lancaster 'learning' from the Stormers
However, unlike some media reports, rugby365 can reveal that Lancaster's stop-over in Cape Town was at his request – not that of the Stormers.
Lancaster, who resigned his England post after they became the first host nation to be eliminated in the pool stage of the World Cup, has already visited New Zealand and Australia.
He is looking at different set-ups around the world and also visited the England cricket team – who earlier this week destroyed South Africa's pride, the wilting Proteas, to clinch the series.
Lancaster will also meet other South African dignitaries during his stop-over in South Africa, including 1995 World Cup-winning captain Francois Pienaar.
On Monday he sat down for a 'highly productive' one-hour visit with the Stormers coaching staff – where they all exchanged ideas.
It is not the first time the Stormers had tapped into international resources – with coaches from French giants Stade Francais and Argentina having also made the trip to Cape Town.
Springbok assistant coach Johann van Graan is also due for a visit to the Stormers' training base in the not too distant future.
