Lions keep winning formula

By
Thursday 4 Jun 2015
Lions' coach Johan Ackermann has opted for consistency for the clash against the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.

Ackermann has made just two forced changes to the Lions matchday 23 that beat the defending champions in Round 16.

In the midfield, Alwyn Hollenbach will start at inside centre after Lionel Mapoe was unable to pass a late fitness test following a knock to his knee during last weekend’s win over the Waratahs.

As a result, Harold Vorster will shift to outside centre for the match.

On the bench, Howard Mnisi will come in for Nicolaas Hanekom, who also sustained a minor knee injury in last weekend’s game.

Lions: 15 Andries Coetzee, 14 Ruan Combrinck, 13 Harold Vorster, 12 Alwyn Hollenbach, 11 Courtnall Skosan, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Francois de Klerk, 8 Warren Whiteley (captain), 7 Warwick Tecklenburg, 6 Jaco Kriel, 5 Franco Mostert, 4 Martin Muller, 3 Julian Redelinghuys, 2 Armand van der Merwe, 1  Schalk van der Merwe.

Replacements: 16 Malcolm Marx, 17 Corne Fourie, 18 Ruan Dreyer, 19 Robert Kruger, 20 Albertus Smith, 21 Dillon Smit, 22 Marnitz Boshoff, 23 Howard Mnisi.

Date: Saturday, June 6

Venue: Newlands, Cape Town

Kick-off: 17.10 (15.10 GMT)

Referee: Stuart Berry (South Africa)

Assistant referees: Marius van der Westhuizen (South Africa), Quinton Immelman (South Africa)

TMO: Marius Jonker (South Africa)
