Lions to lure Kwagga home
NEWS: Springboks flank Albertus Smith could return to Super Rugby franchise the Lions.
The Lions have confirmed that they have begun negotiations with Smith as they look to require the services of the Springbok.
The past weekend various South African media outlets reported that Smith could link up with the Blitzboks, having made himself available for the London and Paris legs of the World Sevens Series in a bid to make it into the Olympic squad.
While reports also suggested that the flank might move to Durban to join the Sharks following the Olympics.
However, the Lions moved swiftly nullify the Durban move with their latest twitter post, stating that the player and the Johannesburg side are ‘in talks’.
The 26-year-old currently plies his trade in Japan for Top League outfit Yamaha Jubilo having left the Lions after the 2019 season.
Smith had played six Tests for the Springboks since making his debut against Wales in Washington DC in 2018.
