McCabe set for timely return
Wallaby centre Pat McCabe looks like he could be making his long awaited return to the Brumbies line-up in their clash with the Southern Kings this weekend.
Brumbies coach, Jake White, is delighted by the progress that McCabe has made is excited by the return of the midfield ace.
White told the Sydney Morning Herald: "Pat [McCabe] is fine, he's pulled up nicely so in all likelihood he'll be involved this week and that's positive for us.
"We haven't had Jesse [Mogg] for two weeks, to get a guy like Pat McCabe back is fantastic.
"We're in a really good space … the nice thing is if you get a guy like Pat McCabe back is not bad going into this part of the campaign," he added.
McCabe has only managed to play 30 minutes of rugby since he broke his neck playing for Australia at the end of last year.
The centre looks like he is going to be dropped in the deep end come the weekend as White feels that if he is fit to play he is fit enough to start.
"If he's good enough to go, he should be good enough to start. It just depends [whether he starts] on who we [select] against the Kings in terms of combinations," the coach mentioned.
It seems that White is also in the process of adopting a rotation policy amongst his squad with a number of players playing the bulk of the rugby so far this season.
Players like captain Ben Mowen, hooker Stephen Moore, centre Christian Lealiifano and Peter Kimlin have been involved extensively this season and are the players that need a rest the most.
"They've played [almost] 80 minutes of every game so in the next couple of weeks we have to find ways to rotate those guys.
"This is a long season, the players don't see it as getting dropped. It's rotating, resting time and a chance to clear their heads," White mentioned.
The Brumbies take on the Southern Kings in their next game and White insists that they are not taking the rookies lightly.
The Canberra side have had a tough last couple of weeks with games against three of the five South African sides and they will be hoping that they can continue their good run against the Kings this weekend.
