Meehan to sharpen Reds' attack

The Reds have appointed Steve Meehan as their new attack coach as their preparations for the 2014 Super Rugby season continue.

Meehan, who has previously held senior coaching roles at Bath, Stade Français and the Western Force, will form part of head coach Richard Graham's coaching team, which includes the experienced Nick Stiles as forwards coach.

Meehan, who began his coaching career in Queensland in 1999 with Premier Rugby Club GPS and has previously been a Reds Under-19 Selector, is delighted to be returning to his home state.

"It's great to be coming home to work with a young and exciting squad. My job is to push the players so they continue to be innovative in attack and pose a threat to all Super Rugby teams," he said.

Graham said Meehan would fit seamlessly into the Reds’ coaching set-up.

"Steve has coached in the top Rugby competitions around the world and brings with him a wealth of experience. He has a deep knowledge of the game and an absolute passion for rugby in Queensland. His appointment as attack coach provides us with a good opportunity to further evolve that aspect of our game," Graham said.
