Naivalu done for the season

Rebels speedster Sefanaia Naivalu has been ruled out of the remainder of the Super Rugby season, after fracturing his tibia in Durban against the Sharks.

Rebels' head of athletic performance Bryce Cavanagh explained that Naivalu is currently still in South Africa.

“Sefa [Naivalu] wasn't able to fly home with the team due to his broken leg, so he’ll spend a few extra days over there with a member of the Rebels on-field staff before returning home to begin his rehabilitation," Cavanagh said.

Meanwhile Tamati Ellison is currently undergoing further investigation into a groin injury suffered in South Africa and the Club will continue to assess Ellison this week.

"We’re currently investigating the extent of Tamati’s [Ellison] groin injury, and what affect that will have on his ability to play again in the next two weeks.

"We’re hopeful of having a clearer picture of where he’s at in the next 48 hours," explained Cavanagh.

The Rebels host the Bulls on Saturday, in Round 17 of Super Rugby.
