Naka: We were very poor
Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has spoken honestly about his teams 33-0 drubbing at the hands of the Stormers, saying they were easily out played.
The Cheetahs, coming of a famous victory against the then second placed Brumbies, were looking to continue their momentum at a wet and windy Newlands on Saturday.
This was not the case however as the Stormers ran in four unanswered tries with the men from Bloemfontein not able to get off their duck.
Drotske puts this embarrassing result down to a poor Cheetahs team on the day that were tactically out played by the Stormers.
"Definitly a disappointing result, credit to the Stormers though I think they played well today," Drotske said at the post-match interview.
"They had us under pressure from the first minute. I think physically, at the break down, we lacked a lot of attitude."
The tight phases of the game is were the Cheetahs boss believes his team were especially poor.
They had prepared in the week for the Stormers driving and mauling game, but on they day they could do nothing to stop it as captain Adriaan Strauss explained.
"I don't think we were good enough tonight, but taking nothing away from the Stormers, they played against an average cheetahs side," the captain said of his teams performance.
"We were very poor. The Stormers tactics were excellent, we knew they were going to drive but we could not stop that.
"I must give them credit – they were very good and they had us in the breakdowns and the drives."
When quizzed about his teams absolute turn around from last session, as well as the turn around from the Brumbies game, Drotske considered a few factors that were different.
"There are a few factors that I think that went wrong – last year we managed to win the 50/50 games." he added
"We had a tough start this year on tour losing all four of our games, that puts a lot of pressure on you.
"All of a sudden you have a lot of players that do not have confidence.
"It is a tough competition this and we have seen in the past the team that is 15th can beat the team that is top of the log but you need a good start which we had last year."
