The Springbock lock sustain an injury during the Test series against Ireland and has not recover. Coach Franco Smith has named Carl Wegner in place of the injured De Jager.

While Retshegofaditswe Nche will be replacing Charles Marais at loosehead prop.

Joseph Dweba will be making his Super Rugby debut for the Free State side while Johan Coetzee, Reniel Hugo, Henco Venter, George Whitehead and William Small-Smith all return to the bench after injuries.
