Reds wary of 'Canes forwards
The Reds returned home from South Africa boasting one victory, and will next face the tall order of competing against the Hurricanes at Brisbane on the weekend.
The Reds' win on the road against the Cheetahs saw a much improved performance from them, and forwards coach Nick Stiles believes that it came down to a strong set-piece.
"Our consistency at set-piece is much improved," said Stiles.
"For the first time this year we have had James Horwill and Rob Simmons packing together, that is our strongest lock combination and it set the platform to be dominant against the Cheetahs.
Looking forward to the Hurricanes fixture, the Reds backline will be put-to-test against the skillful attacking threat of Beauden Barrett an Co. However it is the 'Canes forwards that Stiles has been most impressed with this season.
"They have always had an electric backline, their improvement over the last few years has definitely been their increased performance of their forward pack.
"They [Hurricanes' forwards] used to be soft over the past few years, but that's definitely not the case now.
"They have a very strong scrum, their line-outs run very well, and they have players like Victor Vito
who is explosive and can jump with a single lifter.
"They are a much more balanced side, and that is showing with the results they have got this year.
"For us to come back and play the competition leaders, will be a good challenge."
