Reds won't be overwhelmed by Newlands

The Reds slumped to a 21-44 defeat to the Bulls at Loftus last week and the Wallaby midfielder reflected on the points they have to improve on.

"For us it's about building on the accuracy and not to let simple errors creep into our game because a team like the Stormers will put points on you, so we need to get out there right and play," said Fainga'a.

"Newlands is a fantastic stadium to play at and it's very easy to get overwhelmed there.

"They always draw a really good crowd and they're quite vocal, so I think we just need to embrace it, think of it as Suncorp and take it within our grasp and get out there and play good rugby."

Fainga'a also said that there were a few aspects in the game against the Bulls that they were satisfied with, such as their set-pieces, defensive structures and their low-tackle focus, but admitted that they will have to sustain those efforts if they want to come out on top against Robbie Fleck's side.

"Going into the Stormers game we have to execute those plays well, especially on defence and the attacking plays we get the opportunity to have," he said.

"We want to get wins, we're not getting the wins and we're not getting the scores that we want."

"We just need to make sure that we deliver positive efforts and that we can keep those up for 80 minutes – that's what you need to win Super Rugby games.

The Reds last beat the Stormers at Newlands in 2011, and the 29-year-old Fainga'a attributed much of the Cape Town-based outfit's strength back then to Springbok stalwarts who wore the blue and white hersey.

"The Stormers had a fantastic team then – they had Springboks Jean de Villiers and Bryan Habana and we got away with the win there after Mike Harris scored right at the end," he added.

"It's been a really long time and we've got a really young side, but we're looking forward to the challenge.
