Sharks ready to go on the attack

Veteran prop Coenie Oosthuizen said their come-from-behind win – with an injury-time try – over the Brumbies this past weekend has generated a lot of belief that they are on the right track.

Going into the game against the Waratahs in Duran on Saturday, their first home game of the weekend, they need to build on that momentum.

"Super Rugby is a long tournament and it's a huge competition," Oosthuizen said on an interview on the Sharks website.

"We need every player to be at his best, not only physically, but also mentally."

Although it is the third Australian team on the trot for the Sharks, the benefit is understanding the opposition better each week.

"The Australian teams want to play the same brand of rugby.

"What the Reds did in the first game was to attack our breakdown, which meant we couldn't get quick ball and this led to a situation where we couldn't attack.

"We corrected those mistakes in the Brumbies game and will look to make sure we continue that this weekend.

"We have a mindset to play an attacking brand of rugby, and the belief that we had last week really amazed us."

He is expecting a backlash from the Waratahs after their loss to the Lions.

"Super Rugby is an unbelievable competition and it is an amazing game," the prop said.

"You can be on top one weekend and hit rock bottom the next.

"But there is always another weekend, and they have that this weekend, an opportunity to correct their mistakes.

"And we, as a team, see that as a challenge.

"We know what to expect. The Waratahs weren't up to their own standards, they are one of the best teams in Australia and we know that.

"We are ready for the challenge, we know they will come out fighting, they will give it their all.

"But we're at home and playing in front of our home crowd; what more could we ask for?"
