Tahs have only one gameplan
Waratahs coach Michael Cheika said he won't be changing his gameplan for the Super Rugby play-offs, after his team overpowered the Reds 34-3 to win a franchise-record seven straight matches.
Speaking after the win, which was the state's biggest win over Queensland in Super Rugby history, Cheika said that is the only way they know how to play.
"I know we are going to be challenged at that, because all the top teams are there now," the coach said.
"If we want to go further we want to do it that way.
"We are prepared to have a go at it, do our best, and let the cards fall where they may."
Cheika was delighted his bench saw plenty of action against the old enemy.
"Some of our boys that haven't played much footy did some good things and that's good for us going into the finals."
Preparing for their first play-off appearance since 2011, the coach has a few surprises in store.
"We might do a few things we did in the pre-season to remind the boys what it will take to move forward, after that it's all about re-energising."
The victory is the team's seventh successive win and their 12th of the season, both Super Rugby records.
It is also NSW's first win in Queensland since 2010 and sees the Tahs retain the Templeton Cup.
"We're happy with the win. It was good to put a few tries on and keep them tryless," Waratahs captain Michael Hooper said.
"It was a tough game. They came out really tough and ripping into us at the start. We had to weather that but I'm happy with the boys' effort."
The Waratahs also scored more points against the Reds in this match than in any previous meeting between the teams in Super Rugby.
"We did a lot of good things and then just stupid little errors let us down," Reds captain James Horwill said.
"They hurt us from long range a lot of the time and they hurt us from our errors."
