Three injured Lions return home
The Lions' hopes of a rare tour win suffered a cruel blow on Monday, with three key players returning home with injuries.
It was confirmed that utility backs Lionel Mapoe (MCL) and Courtnall Skosan (hamstring), as well as star loose forward Derick Minnie (concussion) have returned to South Africa on Monday.
These setbacks are the result of the Lions' demoralising 13-41 loss to the Waratahs in Sydney at the weekend.
Mapoe, Skosan and forward Minnie will undergo further scans and tests upon their arrival in Johannesburg.
Coenie van Wyk and Alwyn Hollenbach will depart for Perth later on Monday in order to provide cover.
The Lions remain "extremely positive" and determined to get a first win on tour, when they face the Western Force in Perth on Saturday.
The Lions have now lost six games in a row, including tour defeats against the Chiefs, Highlanders and Waratahs.
