Van der Spuy bolsters Cheetahs' tour squadVan der Spuy, 25, who featured regularly for the Cheetahs in Super Rugby last year when he was contracted to Griquas, signed a two-year contract with the Free State franchise before the start of the 2016 season.

The versatile Van der Spuy, whose regular position is centre, is one of five additions to the Cheetahs team that routed the Sunwolves 92-17 in Bloemfontein on Friday.

The other additions are Luan de Bruin, Elandre Huggett, Paul Schoeman and Ruan van Rensburg.

All 23 players involved in the 14-try demolition of the Japanese newcomers to Super Rugby will depart with the team on Sunday.

The Cheetahs will be arriving in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday.

They will be playing against the Rebels next Friday (April 22), the Reds (Saturday, April 30) and the Waratahs (Saturday, May 7).
