Scott Higginbotham of the Reds has received a red card for foul play during the Rebels' 45-19 win over his Reds team in Melbourne.
Higginbotham is charged with having contravened Law 9.13 – Dangerous Tackling – when he made contact with Rebels lock Matt Philip.
The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR foul play review committee – which will take place on Sunday.
* The second player in the dock is Antonio Kiri Kiri of the Blues, who has been cited for foul play during his team's 34-41 loss to the Highlanders.
Kiri Kiri is charged with having contravened Law 9.12 – Physically abusing a player by striking them with his head – during the match in Dunedin.
Upon further review of the match footage, the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.
The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR foul play review committee, on Sunday.
* The third member of the Bad Boys club is Lukhan Tui of the Reds, who has also has been cited for foul play in his team's record loss to the Rebels.
Tui is charged with having contravened Law 9.18 – A player must not lift an opponent off the ground and drop or drive that player so that their head and/or upper body make contact with the ground.
The referee for the match, Brendon Pickerill, issued a yellow card for the incident which occurred in the 22nd minute.
Upon further review of the match footage, the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.
The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR foul play review committee, on Sunday.
All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to the foul play review committee to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.
For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the foul play review committee.
