Wednesday is D-Day for Flip

Bulls captain Flip van der Merwe is to appear before a SANZAR judicial hearing on Wednesday.

Following initial consideration by the SANZAR judicial officer Jannie Lubbe, Van der Merwe will have to appear at a hearing, after being cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match against the Waratahs at the weekend.

Van der Merwe is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (a): Punching or striking.

It is alleged that he struck and opponent in the 75th minute of the 12-19 loss to the Waratahs in Sydney last Saturday, April 19.

The judicial officer for the hearing, which will be held by video conference on Wednesday (April 23), will be Adam Casselden.

Nature of Offence: Law 10.4 (a) – Punching or Striking. A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).
