Wessels: A new Force to be dealt with

This announcement comes as the Australian franchise prepares for their clash against the Cheetahs, when Super Rugby returns in July.

Wessels takes over from Michael Foley, who coached the Force for three seasons before being sacked mid-June 2016.

The Force are last in the Australian conference and third-last in the combined standings, with a record of just two wins from 12 games.

Their tournament is not likely to become any easier as it draws to a close.

The first fixture after the break will be a visit to Bloemfontein, where the Cheetahs will host the struggling side.

South African One conference leaders, the Stormers, are next on the agenda and will travel to Perth for the Force's last home game of the season.

Wessels' side will then battle the Brumbies in an away fixture on July 16.

The Australian franchise will be looking to recuperate and assemble their forces for next season.
