Crocked Bok in Toulon comeback?
Springbok flank Juan Smith has reportedly flown to Toulon to undergo a medical with the cash-flush French Top 14 club.
The 32-year-old World Cup-winning loose forward, who played in 69 Tests for South Africa, had his career cut short by serious injury but appears to be making one last bid to return to the playing field.
Smith has not played competitive rugby since the start of 2011, with an Achilles injury finally forcing him to retire from the game at the start of this year.
However, according to Volksblad the Cheetahs stalwart and his agent were spotted at OR Tambo airport boarding a plane to Toulon where he is expected to undergo a physical examination.
The newspaper also reported that Smith has been training hard this year and has not been troubled by his ankle.
If he signs with the European champions Smith will join fellow Boks Bryan Habana, Bakkies Botha, Joe van Niekerk, Danie Rossouw and Michael Claassens in Toulon.
