VIDEO: Bok scrumhalf sparks sensational long-range try
SOCIAL SPOTLIGHT: Springbok scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies sparked a sensational length-of-the-field try in Bayonne’s 35-34 win over Stade Français in the Top 14 on Saturday.
Jantjies received the ball from a restart and almost fumbled it backwards, but the would-be error exploited space in front of him with defenders rushing up.
The scrumhalf turned on the pace to run from his own 22 up to his 10 metre line before getting the pass away to centre Yohan Orabe.
Bayonne recycled the ball before Sereli Maqala picked it up from the base to win a few extra metres before playing the ball to hooker Facundo Bosch.
Another quick recycle saw Jantjies get the ball once more and got his pass away to flyhalf Joris Segonds, who executed a perfectly timed crossfield kick into the hands of Los Pumas winger Mateo Carreras, who went over to score.
Feinte de dégagement, passe au pied millimétrée…
