Kellaway to captain Aus U20

Waratahs’ Gen Blue star Andrew Kellaway has been named Captain of the Australian Under-20 side for the Oceania Rugby Junior Championship kicking off on the Gold Coast this Friday, May 1.

The outside back is returning for another campaign in the Australian U20's after a successful tournament at the World Rugby U20 Championship last year in which he broke the tournament try-scoring record set by current All Black, Julian Savea, by scoring ten tries.

Australian Sevens player Brad Wilkin has been announced vice-captain of the Australian U20 team.

Australian U20 Head Coach, Adrian Thompson, said: "To captain Australia at any level is a great honour and Andrew is certainly deserving of this role.

"In 2014, Andrew played very well at the Junior World Championships and led by example on and off the field."

The Sydney-born Kellaway said: "It’s an absolute honour to be named Captain and have the opportunity to lead this group."

"We’ve been in camp for two days and our preparation is heading in the right direction.

"There are a lot of players returning to the program which bodes well as their experience is priceless for us.

"The tournament will be an exciting one which, in my opinion, will offer us the perfect preparation for the World Rugby U20 Championship in June."

The Australian U20 side will play Samoa at Bond University on the Gold Coast. In the other match New Zealand will take on Japan also at Bond University.
