Wales U20 skipper heads home

Wales Under-20 have been dealt a cruel blow ahead of their play-off match against Ireland in the Under-20 World Cup.

Captain Rory Thornton has been ruled out of the remainder of the championship due to a knee injury he suffered in the 66-3 win over Japan on Wednesday.

He will return to Wales for further medical assessment and will be replaced in the Wales U20 squad by Ospreys and Swansea lock Matthew Dodd.

Wales have two remaining matches at the Italy-based Under 20 tournament.

They play Ireland on Monday in the fifth place semifinal and depending on results, will play Australia or Scotland on Saturday June 20.
