LISTEN as Sharks head coach John Plumtree shares his thoughts on his side’s performance in their 12-3 United Rugby Championship win over Scarlets.
The match in itself was like watching paint dry as neither side was able to cross the whitewash.
Sam Costelow scored the Scarlets’ only points on the stroke of the half-time buzzer while penalties by Siya Masuku (1) and Aphelele Fassi (3) gave the hosts a win that sealed third position on the URC table.

It was another unconvincing performance by the Durbanites who notoriously managed to win matches by the skin of their teeth throughout the season.
Plumtree expressed his concern about his side’s form at the business end of the season and conceded that they need to be better if they were to reach a home semifinal.

“We have to be better than this [heading into the play-offs]. The players are frustrated too.
“There were a few issues around our attack against Scarlets in terms of clarity. We messed up our [attacking] launches a couple of times through inaccuracies.
“We tried hard but there was just one too many mistakes and we just couldn’t get anything right.
“It wasn’t a good performance from our side and we need to look at the reasons why that was to get better.”
