Bok centre withdraws from clash with Warriors

NEWS: Springbok centre Jan Serfontein has had to withdraw from the Bulls’ United Rugby Championship fixture against Glasgow Warriors at the Scotstoun Stadium on Friday.

A few hours after the Bulls announced their side for the Round Five clash in Scotland, it was updated with the news that Serfontein was struggling with a stiff neck and would not take part in the game.

He is replaced by the experienced Harold Vorster.

Serfontein picked up a shoulder injury in the opening-round win against the Ospreys two weeks ago.

The 32-year-old returned to Pretoria after eight years in France with Montpellier, where he won the Top 14 title in 2021-22 and the Challenge Cup in 2020-21.

Before that, he competed in Super Rugby with the Bulls and was part of the side that lost a semifinal to the Brumbies in 2013.

He earned 35 Test caps for the Boks from 2013 to 2017.
