Bok forward's view on Sharks' coaching changes
AUDIO: A Springbok flanker gave his insights on interim Sharks coach JP Pietersen’s influence on the team ahead of their Round Nine United Rugby Championship clash against the Lions.
Former Bok wing Pietersen is having a positive impact on the team after taking coaching reins from former head coach John Plumtree following a dismal start to the Durbanites’ season in which they won just one match under the New Zealander in all competitions.
Under Pietersen, the Sharks won back-to-back games against Saracens (Champions Cup) and the Bulls (URC) whilst playing a more positive brand.
Loose forward Tshituka credited Pietersen’s influence on the team and stated that the players have responded positively to his methods and that he believes the Sharks can turn their fortunes around in the URC and Champions Cup.

“It’s been quite an exciting time at the Sharks, having two good wins after a tough start to the season.
“It helped us build a bit of momentum and confidence that we needed.
“JP [Pietersen] has really challenged us, going from good to great and lifted our standards in everything we do.
“There are a lot of players taking personal responsibility as well and driving the cause.
“There’s been a lot of buy-in [from the players] over the past couple of weeks to be a great team.
“I feel we’ve got all the potential and everything else we need.
“This week has been quite nice, with a buzz going around to play in a South African derby.
“It’s always a big one against the Lions and a spectacle, so we expect nothing less than that.
“We feel confident and ready from our training we’ve done so far, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.
“The guys are quite excited, and we feel that we can turn the season around.”
