Bok hooker signs on the dotted line for Bulls
NEWS: The Bulls have secured a boost ahead of the new season.
On Wednesday, the team announced that Springbok hooker Johan Grobbelaar has signed a contract extension keeping him at Loftus Versfeld until 2030.
The 28-year-old has risen through the ranks in Pretoria after making his senior debut in 2017. The Paarl Gimnasium product has amassed over 100 appearances in the blue jersey.
His performances over recent seasons have earned him a call-up to the Springbok setup, where he continues to feature as part of the national squad.
Blue Bulls Company chief executive Edgar Rathbone highlighted the significance of securing Grobbelaar’s services for the long haul:
“Johan embodies everything we stand for at the Vodacom Bulls,” said Rathbone.
“He is a warrior on the field, a natural leader in the environment, and a loyal servant to this union who has consistently delivered at the highest level year after year.”
The Bulls will start their 2026/2027 United Rugby Championship campaign in Italy against Zebre on Saturday, September 26.
