Bok hybrid set for long-awaited Stormers return
INJURY UPDATE: The Stormers are hopeful about several returning players from injury, but one Springbok forward made a full recovery and is available for their United Rugby Championship Round 12 clash against the Lions.
Utility forward Deon Fourie could make his long-awaited return to the pitch following a lengthy injury layoff.
Fourie suffered a bicep tear against the Scarlets back in early October 2025 in his return match after previously being sidelined for five months with a leg injury.
Attack coach Dawie Snyman confirmed that Fourie is ready to go and provided an update on other players who possibly could make their return to the field as well.
“Deon Fourie is back, and he’s been going nicely,” Snyman said in an online press conference on Monday.
“He’s obviously worked hard since returning from injury.
“The thing about Deon [Fourie] is that he’s quite tough mentally. He can go dark places and push himself, and he’s got ample experience.
“He knows the shortcuts. Sometimes he’ll put his head into too many breakdowns.
“We’ll assess where he’s at and how we can use him.
“The first two or three games he won’t be match fit, but hopefully he can select a team or squad where we can bring him up to speed.”

Snyman also gave updates on season captain Ruhan Nel, Seabelo Sentala, Dan and Jean Luc du Plessis, as well as Keke Morabe and Bok Cobus Reinach.
“They started training with us [Ruhan Nel and Seabelo Senatla].
“In terms of their availability [for the Lions clash], we’ll probably make that call later today [Monday] or tomorrow.
“Tomorrow [Tuesday] will be quite a tough session to see if they’ll get through it.
“Dan [Du Plessis] is back training with us. He had a full [training] week last week, so it’s good to have him back.
“Jean Luc [Du Plessis] is also back. He missed the back end of last week, but is in for full training today [Monday].
“Keke [Morabe] has been in and out of training but won’t be available for selection.”
“Cobus [Reinach] should be back for our [Champions Cup] Round of 16 match against Toulon. “
