Bok playmaker's Japan move confirmed

TRANSFER NEWS: Another Springbok will further his career in Japan following confirmation by his local franchise on Monday.

Scrumhalf Grant Williams will say Sayonara to the Sharks at the conclusion of his current contract, which expires in June, joining the likes of fellow Boks Kurt-Lee Arendse and Ruan Nortje in Japan.

The Japanese club he has signed for remains unknown, but with fellow Bok No.9 Faf de Klerk returning to South Africa to join the Cheetahs from the Yokohama Eagles, all signs point to him joining the team in red, which also features fellow national teammate Jesse Kriel.

Williams spent his entire professional career with the Sharks, coming through the ranks since 2017 and made his Test debut for South Africa in 2022, earning 28 caps.
