Bulls handed major Moodie lift ahead of crucial URC clash
NEWS: Bulls utility back Canan Moodie has come through training unscathed and is edging closer to a potential return in this weekend’s United Rugby Championship clash against Zebre Parma at Loftus Versfeld.
Attack coach Neil de Bruin confirmed on Tuesday that the Springbok is in a good space after recovering from the hamstring injury he picked up against the Dragons in mid-April, which ruled him out of the win over the Scarlets in Wales.
Currently seventh on the log, the Bulls are targeting a full 10 points from their remaining fixtures to secure a play-off spot and potentially even a home quarter-final if results go their way.
“He is a key player for us. He trained well today and looks sharp, but a final decision will be made closer to the weekend,” De Bruin said.
The coach highlighted Moodie’s versatility as a major asset, noting his ability to slot in seamlessly across multiple positions in the backline.
“He’s a world-class centre and one of the best wings around. Honestly, he could probably do a job anywhere.
“It’s about getting him fully fit first and then finding the right balance for the team. His willingness to adapt says a lot about his character.”
Despite Zebre sitting at the bottom of the table, De Bruin warned against complacency as the Bulls return home following a demanding tour.
“There’s no underestimating them. For us, it’s about accuracy and execution. We know what’s at stake, and we need to be sharp.”
