Bulls snap up Currie Cup winner

TRANSFER NEWS: The Vodacom Bulls have bolstered their backline for the United Rugby Championship season with Griquas centre Mnombo Zwelendaba joining the Pretoria franchise on loan.

Zwelendaba, who played a key role in Griquas’ 2026 Currie Cup-winning campaign, will get the opportunity to test himself at URC level as he continues his development.

The 26-year-old, born on 21 February 2000, began his rugby journey at Selborne College before progressing through the Western Province youth and senior systems.

He made the move to Kimberley in 2024 and quickly established himself as an important member of the Griquas setup.

Known for his physicality and attacking instinct, Zwelendaba has now earned the opportunity to take the next step in his career with the Bulls.

The Griquas confirmed the move on their Instagram page, describing it as a valuable opportunity for the talented centre.

“Zwelendaba is heading to Pretoria, joining the Vodacom Bulls on loan for the URC campaign,” Griquas posted.

“After being part of our 2026 Currie Cup-winning campaign, this move gives Zweli the opportunity to test himself at URC level, gain valuable experience and continue his development at the next level.

“We’re proud to see another Griquas teammate taking the next step in his journey and will be following his progress throughout the URC.

“Go well, Mnombo. We look forward to seeing you back in the Griquas jersey.”
