Cardiff edge Dragons in nail-biter, Ospreys hold off Scarlets
FRIDAY WRAP: Cardiff secured a nail-biting 22-19 win over the Dragons in their United Rugby Championship Round Eight encounter at Arms Park on Friday.
The win moved Cardiff up to second in the table. However, Munster and Glasgow could overtake them on Saturday if they win their respective matches against Leinster and Edinburgh.
It was 12-12 at the break with prop Javan Sebastian and flank Alex Mann touching down in between Che Hope crossing twice for the visitors.
Wales wing Josh Adams then went over to put the hosts in front early in the second half ahead of the dramatic finale.
Despite being down to 14 men following a yellow card for Josh McInally, Cardiff held out in the face of a prolonged late onslaught to take the spoils.
In Friday’s other Welsh derby, Ospreys climbed off the bottom of the table with a 26-19 away win over the Scarlets in Llanelli.
The visitors’ tries were scored by Owen Watkin, Dewi Lake, Kieran Hardy and Iestyn Hopkins.
Joe Roberts scored a brace for Scarlets before Jarrod Taylor got a late consolation score.
