Eduan Keyter opens up about knee injuries and life with the Lions
Eduan Keyter is slowly adjusting to life at the Lions after a mid-year move from the Sharks.
Keyter burst onto the scene at the Griquas in 2019 with his blistering pace and immediately impressed, running in 18 tries in 31 appearances.
His standout performances in Kimberley did not go unnoticed, and in 2021, he moved to Durban, where he spent a frustrating three seasons marred by injuries, including an ACL injury.
While addressing the media on Tuesday, the 29-year-old expressed his excitement after arriving at his new rugby home, where he believes he will do well.

“Yeah, it’s quite exciting for me, I like the brand of rugby the Lions play. I like running with the ball and putting my body on the line,” Keyter said.
“It was quite an easy adjustment; it’s made an easy transition for me coming from the Sharks’ kicking game to a more attacking game. It suits me quite well.”
Apart from enjoying the style he is being integrated into, Keyter is happy that his body is playing along as he looks to thrive at the Lions.
“I had a big knee operation, which was a major problem, but my body is feeling good and I’m really excited about the upcoming season.
“I am working my hardest and doing my best to stay fit and on top of my game.”
Looking ahead to the weekend’s game against Ulster, the winger is feeling confident as they look to get another win at Ellis Park in their second home game.
“We set a goal for ourselves that we must get ten points from these two games, and I think [last week] it was a good start.
“The win just gave us a bit of confidence and belief in ourselves. It’s made us ready for the upcoming game.”
