Griquas star lands URC opportunity with Ospreys
NEWS: Ospreys have dipped into South Africa to address their back-row injury crisis, bringing in Griquas loose forward Marco de Witt on a short-term contract following Jac Morgan’s shoulder setback.
The 23-year-old arrives in Swansea with a growing reputation after co-captaining the Griquas and playing a central role in their landmark Currie Cup title earlier this year.
It will mark De Witt’s first spell outside South Africa and his introduction to the demands of the United Rugby Championship.
Morgan was injured while captaining Wales in last month’s autumn international defeat to Argentina and is expected to be sidelined for up to five months.

With the flanker set to join Gloucester next season, the injury could rule him out of the Six Nations and delay his return to Ospreys colours until March.
De Witt becomes the latest Griquas leader to make the move to Wales, following captain Cebo Dlamini, who is poised for his Dragons debut against Connacht this weekend.
A strong ball carrier with a physical edge and dependable lineout skills, De Witt is keen to embrace the step up in level.
“With Jac unavailable, we needed to act quickly, and Marco was an excellent option,” said head coach Mark Jones.
“He’s a young player with real potential and will add something different to a back row that has been delivering strong performances.”
