VIDEO: How Stormers kept Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in Cape Town
REACTION: Stormers Director of Rugby John Dobson confirmed that third parties were involved in securing Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s signature.
During Saturday’s United Rugby Championship Round Seven clash against the Lions, the franchise unveiled Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s contract extension, which will keep him in Cape Town until at least July 2029.
Retaining the 23-year-old is a major boost for the Stormers, who faced stiff competition from overseas clubs eager to secure one of the most exciting talents in world rugby.

“He is vital for this franchise,” Dobson told reporters after the 34-27 win over the Lions at Cape Town Stadium.
The coach did not disclose the details of the contract; however, he revealed that it took external assistance and some compromise by the star.
“We got it right through Sacha being keen to be here, but also with some help from third parties,” Dobson admitted.
“It was a collective effort with the money being demanded overseas.
“It was also a great bit of compromise on Sacha’s part in terms of price.
“Collectively, people got together to keep him.
“I don’t think we could’ve lost him from this franchise with how he plays.”

Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s extension follows the retention of key figures such as Damian Willemse and Evan Roos, while the likes of Ntuthuko Mchunu have also been added to strengthen the core.
“We didn’t think we would’ve been taken seriously if we didn’t keep some of the players like Damian Willemse and Sacha,” Dobson said.
“We made the signing of Mchunu, Roos was in high demand, and some of the players coming up. It’s important for ‘Project 2029’ that we keep these guys around.”
Dobson also revealed that the Stormers are keen to lock in Dylan Maart, who is currently under contract with the Griquas.
The wing has been an incredible addition and slotted in seamlessly in the Stormers’ set-up since joining the side on loan.
He was again on the scoresheet on Saturday, and Dobson stated that they are in talks with Griquas to seal a permanent deal with the wing.
“We’re busy chatting to them about converting him,” Dobson said.
“He wants to stay, I think the people want him to stay, and Griquas are open to it. So we’ll do the conversion.
“He’s a great guy, great story, great individual.”
