Junior Bok becomes latest player to commit to Lions
NEWS: The Lions have continued to lock in rising stars, with Junior Springbok scrumhalf Haashim Pead the latest to commit.
Pead has signed a deal that will keep him at the Lions until 2028.
Pead follows in the footsteps of talented loosehead prop SJ Kotze, Springboks Ruan Venter, Quan Horn and Morne van den Berg, who have all signed extensions earlier this month
The young scrumhalf has already made a significant impact, starting in the Lions’ 23–22 win over the Sharks in Durban. He scored a dramatic last-minute try to snatch victory in the URC Round Nine clash.
Pead was also part of the South African team that won the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship, where he made his breakthrough and was named Player of the Tournament.
He began playing rugby for the local Bo-Kaap team Schotsche Kloof Walmers RFC, inspired by watching his father play. Pead matriculated from Bishops and represented Western Province at the 2023 Craven Week.
With Pead’s talent and recent form, the Lions have secured one of South Africa’s most promising young scrumhalves for the coming seasons.
