Leinster's other reason for targeting URC glory
A sword will be hanging above Leinster coach Leo Cullen’s head following another failed Champions Cup campaign.
The Irish powerhouse hasn’t won any silverware since the 2020-21 Pro 14 Final against Munster and is now faced with the possibility of ending another season trophyless.

Cullen was disappointed with Leinster’s Champions Cup exit, but apart from breaking a trophy drought, he revealed the other reason why Leinster would love to clinch the URC title.
The article continues below…
“Like every club at this stage of the season, you’d like to send players off that’s leaving in the right manner, [which is] ideally with a trophy.
“We’ve had this thing of juggling two trophies for the past couple of seasons, but now we’ll shift our focus back to the URC.
“Unfortunately that’s what we’ve got to focus on. We’d love to say we’re preparing for a Champions Cup Final in Cardiff. That’s always the dream at the start of the season.
“We set ourselves out on these journeys and we all picture ourselves where the final destination is which in this case is Cardiff.
“It’s a venue we’ve had some good experiences at over the years, but unfortunately we will not be there this year.
“We just have to lick our wounds, recover quickly and turn our attention to the next challenge.”
