VIDEO: Boeta drops in for flyhalf masterclass

WATCH as Sharks flyhalf Boeta Chamberlain makes history with three drop-goals in his team’s drought-breaking 27-13 win over Ospreys in Swansea on Friday.

It was the Sharks’ first win in the URC and only the second by a South African team since the competition got underway last month.

The 22-year-old Paarl-born No.10 opened the Sharks’ account with a snap-drop from close range in the 19th-minute.

He then landed two more – both from nearly 50 metres out, in the 25th and 61st minutes.

Chamberlain also produced a sublime grubber that set up the Sharks’ opening try, by Jeremy Ward, in the 42nd minute and had a hand in setting up the second try – by Marnus Potgieter in the 58th minute.

Sharks coach Sean Everitt, in his post-match reaction, said that Chamberlain, in only his third match in European competition, “managed the game really well”.

“He put in a sterling performance and deservedly was awarded the Man of the Match,” Everitt said.

The young flyhalf’s three drop-goals is only the third time it has been achieved in URC/Pro12/14 competitions.
