The 27-year-old Snyman has played just 54 minutes in two seasons for Munster – following a rash of setbacks, including two cruciate knee ligament injuries.

He has been sidelined since October 2021.

On Wednesday, Munster revealed they don’t expect to see him on a rugby field this year.

“RG Snyman had a routine consultation with his surgeon last week and following the review the lock is not expected to be available for selection before the end of December,” said a statement on the team’s website.

Meanwhile, the Irish province revealed that one of their Ireland ‘A’ players suffered a setback ahead of the clash against the All Blacks XV on Friday.

“Lock Tom Ahern was ruled out of involvement in this week’s Ireland ‘A’ fixture as he waits to meet with the specialist for a shoulder injury sustained against Leinster.
