The Bulls franchise secured a top-eight spot in the United Rugby Championship following their 78-12 rout of Zebre.

The win was a big confidence booster and one man that really made a statement was hooker Johan Grobbelaar.

The 25-year-old impressed with his performance in the penultimate round-robin phase.

According to the stats obtained by Rugbypass, the No.2 made 10 carries and six tackles, while he also made an incredible line-break which set up a try for Gerhard Steenekamp.

“What he brings to the field with his work rate is immense,” Bulls assistant coach Pine Pienaar said when asked about Grobbelaar’s impact during the win over Zebre at Ellis Park.

“He is one of the leaders when it comes to our defence set-up, he works hard to get into good positions attack-wise and set himself in the right areas.

However, with the 2023 Rugby Championship commencing in July, this year could be Grobberlaar’s chance to finally get his shot in a Bok jersey.
