'Not 100 percent': Latest update on Canan Moodie
INJURY UPDATE: Bulls head coach Johan Ackermann has taken the cautious approach when it comes to Springbok Canan Moodie’s hamstring injury.
Moodie sustained the injury during last weekend’s 47-7 win over the Dragons in Newport.
The 23-year-old lasted just 40 minutes before being withdrawn at half-time after experiencing discomfort.
Despite early treatment and fitness tests this week, the 23-year-old has not recovered sufficiently.
“We obviously treated him and started to test him from Tuesday, but yesterday with the run, there were still signs that it’s not 100 percent,” Bulls head coach Johan Ackermann told reporters.
“At this stage of the season, it’s too big a risk to push him and potentially worsen the injury.”
There is, however, cautious optimism within the camp.
“With a break next week, we’re hopeful it’s not too serious and that he’ll be ready when we return,” Ackermann added.
The Bulls will also be without Sergeal Petersen, who remains sidelined following a concussion.
The good news for Ackermann is that they have Kurt-Lee Arendse and Cheswill Jooste back for the Scarlets clash.
