REPORT: Stormers land Kolbe in megadeal
TRANSFER NEWS: The Stormers reportedly secured the services of Springbok wing Cheslin Kolbe.
According to Rapport, Kolbe will link up with the Cape franchise on July 1, following a massive collective effort between the Stormers, his player agency Roc Nation Sports and a third party to bring the former darling of Newlands back to the mother city.
The duration of the deal is still unknown at this stage.
The reported move is massive for John Dobson’s team, who struggled with their outside backs department this season following Dylan Maart’s return to Griquas from his loan deal before agreeing to join the Bulls.
The 32-year-old made his Stormers debut in 2013 and played 49 games for the Capetonians before moving to Top 14 giants Toulouse, where he formed an integral part of their Top 14 and Champions Cup successes.

His form didn’t go unnoticed as he was called up by Rassie Erasmus in 2018.
He scored a crucial intercept try against the All Blacks in his second Test, which the Boks won by 36-34 in Wellington and remained a mainstay in the Bok setup ever since, winning two World Cups, three Rugby Championships and a British and Irish Lions series.
Kolbe is currently plying his trade with Japan Rugby League One side Tokyo Sungoliath, where he helped his side win their knock-out clash against Blackrams on Saturday, scoring a try, three penalties and three conversions.
