Sharks sign international as Am's replacement
TRANSFER NEWS: The Sharks acquired the services of a Test international centre to replace Japan-bound Springbok Lukhanyo Am.
Namibia international Le Roux Malan has put pen to paper with the Durban-based outfit where he started his career in 2019.
The 26-year-old represented the New England Free Jacks in America’s Major League Rugby tournament on 59 occasions.
He also had a stint in New Zealand in the National Provincial Championship, where he donned the colours of Hawke’s Bay three times.
Bok centre, Am left a gaping hole after signing for Japan Rugby League One side Dynaboars, which fellow national teammate Kurt-Lee Arendse represented earlier this season on a short-term basis.
Since his knee injury, Am’s form hasn’t been where he would have liked it to be, and the move to the Dynaboars could revive his Test career.
The Sharks are currently 13th on the United Rugby Championship table with one win in five games.
They will face Connacht in Galway when the URC resumes on November 29, followed by a tough Champions Cup away opener to Toulouse on December 7.
