Munster's South African flyer returns ahead of Stormers showdown
NEWS: Several key players were spotted at Munster’s first training session of the week ahead of their crunch United Rugby Championship clash against the Stormers in Limerick on Saturday.
Four of those players were involved in Ireland’s 13-24 defeat to the Springboks in Dublin last Saturday. They are captain Tadhg Beirne, flyhalf Jack Crowley, scrumhalf Craig Casey, and centre Tom Farrell.
In further good news for the Irish giants, seven players are returning from injury, and they include South African flyer Thaakir Abrahams.
The other players that have returned to training are Diarmuid Barron, Conor Bartley, Mike Haley, John Hodnett, Alex Kendellen and Niall Scannell.
Edwin Edogbo is increasing his training load and his availability will be determined later in the week. He suffered a concussion in Munster’s derby win over Leinster at Croke Park last month.
Calvin Nash (shoulder) and Oli Jager (HIA) have both returned to non-contact training this week.
Meanwhile, Munster assistant Alex Codling said a call will be made later this week on whether the Ireland contingent will be included in the matchday squad.
“They’ve come off the back of a tough series, physically, and none more so than the game on Saturday, so they will be back training today [Monday],” said Codling.
“And the one thing about the boys, whenever they come back into the environment, they’ve come bouncing in. The boys are glad to have them back, as we coaches are.
“That will be a decision later in the week in terms of where they are physically and mentally after the autumn series, [but they are not ruled out] at this stage… It’s very much on an individual-by-individual basis.”
