TRANSFER NEWS: The Stormers reportedly secured the services of Junior World Championship winner Haashim Pead from the Lions after months of speculation.

After Rugby365 reported that the Stormers will walk away from the deal, News24 said on Saturday that the Bo-Kaap-born scrumhalf will link up with the Stormers following their United Rugby Championship European tour, where they will face Connacht and Edinburgh, respectively, before their first home match against the Sharks on October 10.

The details surrounding Pead’s move are still unclear, but according to News24, an undisclosed transfer fee was paid to the Lions, with a third party also helping the Stormers secure the No.9’s services.

With Cobus Reinach expected to sit out due to Springbok resting protocols during the season, and Imad Khan sidelined until April next year, Pead could get an extended run with his new side.

The Stormers also have Ezekiel Ngobeni, Jayden Brits and the experienced Stefan Ungerer on their books heading into the new season.
