The latest on Cobus Reinach’s injury
Stormers scrumhalf Cobus Reinach has provided an important update regarding the knee injury he sustained during the United Rugby Championship Round 16 match in Cape Town.
Reinach limped off the field just before the hour mark during the Stormers’ 48-12 win over Glasgow Warriors.
After the encounter, Director of Rugby John Dobson painted a bleak picture of the Springbok’s setback, stating the star faces a long period on the sidelines.
“He’s in a brace and hasn’t been scanned yet,” Dobson told reporters after the match in Cape Town.
“It looks like a ligament, possibly medial. Hopefully it’s not an ACL.
“But I don’t see him coming back for a while.”
On Monday, Reinach took to social media to reveal the extent of his injury.
The experienced scrumhalf posted a video of himself with flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, captioned: “Not an ACL.”
The Stormers have a break before they take on Ulster Rugby on May 8, followed by Cardiff Rugby on May 15, before the play-offs.
